Can the Goechala trek be done alone?

Goechala Trek is a classic Himalayan trek and one of the most popular and scenic trekking routes in India. The stunning vistas of the mountain range are one of the main reasons to go on the Goechala trek. Trekkers compare this Goechala trip to any of the strenuous treks of Nepal.

The colourful rhododendron woods of Tshoka, the tiny village of Yuksom, the vast meadows of Thansing, and the dawn above the Kanchenjunga Range all contribute to a once-in-a-lifetime experience for trekkers. Samiti Lake is a must-see while on the Goechala trek. The beautiful vistas of the quiet water of the lake and, most notably, the reflection of Mt Pandim in the lake is a visual delight.

Can the Goechala trek be done alone?

First of all, if you are physically healthy, can run 5 kilometres in 30 minutes, have completed at least one high-altitude trip, can comfortably carry a rucksack weighing 10 to 15 kg, and do not have asthma, epilepsy, high blood pressure, or heart difficulties then you can go for Goechala trek.

However, it is recommended to do the Goechala trek in a group because the Goechala trek is a 10-day journey rated moderate to challenging and is intended for fit beginners and experienced trekkers. The trek is tough owing to the day-to-day altitude gain.

Therefore, you should contact local trip providers or trekking companies to join a group. Trekking tours are usually organized in groups of 10 to 20 persons. You will have the opportunity to meet new people and learn about yourself. As it is a high-altitude trip, trek leaders know the routes and lengths to cover in one day.

Thus they will take you gradually so that your body can acclimate. You also won't have to worry about finding a camping spot or cooking meals because they will offer both. They will assist you if you suffer from any medical emergency or AMS (Acute Mountain Sickness). On another side, if you prefer to go alone, you can purchase a customized package for a solo excursion or join another group.

Trekking, especially in the Himalayas, is always enjoyable for adventure and environment enthusiasts. Anyone with ordinary fitness may complete this journey with sufficient planning and attention to the acclimatization process. So, enjoy this hypnotic experience of a lifetime in safety.
